When a storm hits you want to be in a safe shelter and when the sun is overpowering you, you want to be in the shade. Both to me are pictures of what we all want to have our “bases covered.”
Is it little wonder that the writer found in Psalm 90 which talks about God being our ultimate protection -so that we can rest in peace knowing that our bases are covered.
Listen to these words …“He who dwells in the shelter of the ‘ Most High ‘ will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 90:1
I love that analogy. God invites us into His shelter for the storms of life. That speaks to me of protection. But there is something else. We are reminded that His presence is so close we are actually protected by His shadow. His shadow over me infers that my heart can be at rest and free from turmoil -which is in stark contrast to the worrying which is so natural when I leave God out of the equation.
