Mark Twain once said that; “ He could go a whole month on one word of encouragement.” Well… that might have been good for him but personally, I prefer 3-4 a day! The Bible actually talks about;
“The ministry of encouragement.”
1 Samuel 23:16 “ And Saul’s son Jonathon went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God. “Don’t be afraid,” he said.”
Nothing is more worthwhile in this world—than encouragement. No mission is more divine—than the that of encouraging others. In no other way can we do more good—than by going about, speaking words of encouragement and cheer. Before David was ever to become King he was tested. King Saul hunted him down in order to Kill him even though he had saved Israel from the hands of the giant Goliath.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
In an extremely low moment for David the son of King Saul- Jonathon searches for David and meets him The Bible says that he helped him find strength in the Lord –translated that means he encouraged him. He encouraged him not with nice cheery phrases but by reminding him that God was in control. He reminded him that he would be King because God had promised that.
